MOOSIC, Pa. -- Falling behind in the third inning, the
Susquehanna baseball team could not rally against Baldwin Wallace
and fell to the Yellow Jackets 4-1 in NCAA action on Saturday
afternoon at PNC Field.
The Crusaders (30-13) now play the winner of
Misericordia/Wesleyan (Conn.) tomorrow at 12 p.m. with the winner
of that contest taking on Baldwin Wallace at 3:30 p.m.

Kocher (Middlebury Center, Pa. / Elkland) suffered the
defeat as the righty threw 6.1 innings, scattering seven hits and
only allowing one earned runas the senior registered 12 fly outs
during his outing. Freshman A.J. Pinto
(Bronxville, N.Y. / Fordham Prep) pitched in relief, as
the lefty went 1.2 innings.
Bryan Palsi
(Brielle, N.J. / Manasquan) and Kyle Semmel
(Burlington Twp., N.J. / Holy Cross) both led SU with two
hits each. In Palsi's first at-bat of the afternoon, the sophomore
cracked a single for his 100th career base knock.SU outhit the
Yellow Jackets 9-8 but were plagued by three fielding errors.
The contest was scoreless until the bottom of the third inning
when Baldwin Wallace scored two unearned runs with two outs to put
SU in a 2-0 hole.
The Orange & Maroon threatened in the fourth, loading the
bases with one out. Dylan Glassmire
(Doylestown, Pa. / Central Bucks South) drew a walk, Palsi
cracked his second hit of the day and Semmel also recorded a base
knock.But the Yellow Jackets got out of the inning unscathed as the
Crusaders still trailed 2-0.
But the Crusaders cut the deficit in half when freshman first
baseman Dylan Jenkins
(Glen Mills, Pa. / Bayard Rustin) ripped an RBI double to
right in the sixth inning for the Crusaders' lone run.
Baldwin Wallace (28-18) tacked on another run in the bottom of
the frame on a sacrifice fly and took a 4-1 lead in the eighth,
touching home on a passed ball.
Despite Tom Shields
(Chalfont, Pa. / Central Bucks South) reaching on an
infield single in the ninth, the Crusaders hit into a double play
to end the game.
Following the conclusion of the tournament, Jenkins was named to
the All-Tournament Team.
