WASHINGTON, D.C. – A bid for a second-straight Landmark
Conference title fell short for the Susquehanna women's
lacrosse team as SU fell 20-9 at No. 1 seed Catholic in
Saturday's championship game.
The Crusaders trailed 13-3 at halftime and could not rally to
comeback for the win.
Meredith Crane (Maplewood, N.J./Columbia) led SU
(11-5) with five goals. Michelle McGinniss (Randolph,
N.J./Randolph) and Emma Ehler (Chatham,

Crane gave Susquehanna an early 1-0 lead on a free position goal
just 90 seconds into the game and her unassisted score less than
two minutes later tied it at two. Unfortunately, the Cardinals
proceeded to score five unanswered goals for a 7-2 lead with 20:19
still to play in the half.
Ehler scored the game's next goal to make it 7-3 but
Catholic ended the half on a 6-0 run to go into halftime leading
13-3.
Ehler and Crane scored back-to-back goals to open the second half
and make it 13-5 but the Cardinals went up by 12 (17-5) with 20:18
remaining.
The Crusaders trailed 20-7 with 12:42 to play but after
Crane's goal with 5:07 still to play they did not score again
in the game en route to the final score of 20-9.
