Box Score SELINSGROVE, Pa. - The Susquehanna women's soccer team was defeated at home on Saturday evening, losing 2-0 to nonconference opponent Westminster (Pa.) for its fourth straight loss.
The Crusaders had an early opportunity to score at 20:43 when a looping shot from Caitlyn Cameron (Bristow, Va. / Highland School) nearly beat the keeper, but was instead tipped above the crossbar for a corner kick.
Making her collegiate debut in net was Jennifer Thorsheim (Manalapan, N.J. / Freehold Township), who faced 11 shots in the first half, five of which were on goal. The freshman goalie was able to make four saves in the early goings, but a handball just outside of the box set the visiting Titans up for a dangerous free kick in the 27th minute.
Though the ensuing shot from Sammy Creese grazed Thorsheim's fingers, it found the back of the net and put Westminster ahead 1-0, a lead it would not lose for the remainder of the game. Susquehanna fought hard and nearly equalized in the 32nd minute when a shot from Chloe Eisenhuth(Watsontown, Pa. / Warrior Run) was saved on the goal line by a Westminster defender.
SU had another chance early after half when a pass by Kate Wiley (Sellersville, Pa. / Pennridge) across the face of the net left the Titans vulnerable, but was ultimately just out of the reach of any attacker.
The visitors added to their lead in the 81st minute on a goal Rebecca Bradnam, who slotted a ball behind Thorsheim after she came to the edge of the box.
The Crusaders will look to end their skid on Tuesday, Sept. 16 when they travel to Penn-St. Harrisburg for a 5:00 p.m. game.
