EDWARDSVILLE, Pa. – Two second-half goals propelled the Susquehanna field hockey team to a 2-1, come-from-behind victory at Wilkes, marking the Crusaders' third-straight victory.

The Colonels (1-4) scored early in regulation and held onto their 1-0 lead for 45 minutes before back-to-back SU goals gave Susquehanna (4-3) a lead it would not relinquish.

The Crusaders had only seven shots all game but six of those came in that two-goal second half. Brodie Ercole (Oakmont, Pa./Lewisburg Area) and Meghan Plunkett (Ambler, Pa./Wissahockon) accounted for the SU scoring with Plunkett's goal marking the first of her collegiate career.

Wilkes took 11 shots but goalie Alyssa Rothman (Trooper, Pa./Methacton) came up with saves on six of those shots.

Just four minutes into the game, Wilkes' Maura Anistranki knocked in a rebound off Kerryn Redcay's initial shot past Rothman for an early 1-0 Colonels lead.

With just one shot in the first half – an Emily Novakovich (Saratoga, Calif./Lynbrook) shot that went wide – the Crusaders never a legitimate scoring opportunity and Wilkes maintained that 1-0 lead at halftime.

The second half was a different story, though. After 15 minutes of play in the period, Ercole directed a Katherine Millett (Auburn, Maine/North Yarmouth Academy) pass into the cage for the game-tying goal.

With less than four minutes to play in regulation, Plunkett scored the first goal of her collegiate career and it was the game winner as Wilkes was held without a shot for the remaining minutes of the game.

Susquehanna returns home to host Marywood on Sept. 17 at 7 p.m.
