Women's Tennis Team Ends Fall Season on High Note

SELINSGROVE, Pa. – The Susquehanna women's tennis team finished the fall season by defeating visiting Penn St.-Harrisburg Lions 8-1 Saturday afternoon.

At the completion of doubles, SU (3-2) was in the lead 2-1 over Penn St.-Harrisburg (2-3). Number one doubles consisting of Allison Lobell and Abby Ransom defeated their opponents 8-5 while Kelly Furlong and Linsey Sipple, at number two doubles, won 8-5, as well.

The Crusaders swept the singles matches, going 6-0. Furlong, playing number one singles, won 6-2, 6-2. Sipple at number two singles defeated her competitor 6-2, 6-0 while at third singles, Eliza Griffin won by forfeit. Lobell playing number four singles won 6-2, 6-1 while number five and six singles, Ransom and Julia Spear, won 6-3, 6-2 and 6-4, 6-0 respectively.

 "The team competed hard this fall and gained valuable experience that we look to translate into our traditional season this spring," said first-year head coach Alison Carney.
