Box Score HUNTINGDON, Pa. – The Susquehanna field hockey team suffered just its second conference loss of the season - and only fourth overall – in a 3-0 loss at Juniata Wednesday night.
The Eagles (7-4, 4-0) scored in the first 10 minutes of the game and the Crusaders (9-4, 2-2) were unable to come back over the remaining 60 minutes.
Juniata out-shot SU by an 11-1 margin but the Crusaders did manage seven penalty corners on the night. Susquehanna's only shot came in the second half from Taylor Franco. SU goalie Alyssa Rothman finished with five saves, all in the second half of play.
The Eagles' Sarah Bilheimer scored an unassisted goal at the 9:30 mark of the first half and less than five minutes later, Melissa Rutherford scored to give Juniata a two-goal cushion.
Susquehanna's defense kept Juniata off the scoreboard for roughly the next 29 minutes before Bilheimer scored again at the 43:40 mark to provide her team a three-goal cushion. Franco's shot came in the 63rd minute and was saved by Juniata goalie Kylie Edwards.
The Crusaders remain on the road to face Moravian on Oct. 17 at 1 p.m.
