Rally by Men's Soccer Falls Short

Box Score

WASHINGTON, D.C. – A late rally by the Susquehanna men's soccer team was not enough to complete a comeback as the Crusaders fell 3-2 to Landmark Conference foe Catholic on Saturday afternoon.

The Cardinals (6-9-1, 3-3-1) led 3-0 until the Crusaders (8-6-2, 3-2-2) netted goals in the 86th and 90th minutes to cut it to a one-goal game (3-2) but with the second goal coming with just three seconds left, time ran out on SU.

Catholic scored just 8:08 into the game and again in the 51st and 67th minutes to put SU in the 3-0 hole.

The Crusaders' made it a two-goal game when Brandon Jackson scored off a quick pass from Ryan Cronin inside the six-yard box. Four minutes later, Paul Siekmann scored the second SU goal from a pass by Thomas Burke.

Susquehanna was led in shots by Nick Fecci and Maxfield Reed who took three each while four other players contributed two. Goalie Augusto Lima faced seven shots on goal and made four saves.

Susquehanna returns to action on Wednesday, Oct. 28 when the team hosts Misericordia for a 7:00 p.m. game.
