Box Score WASHINGTON, D.C. – A 1-0 lead did not hold up for the Susquehanna women's soccer team which dropped a 2-1 road decision to Catholic.
Alex Edelman scored the first goal of the game at the 16:08 mark to give SU a 1-0 lead. That lead last for 20 minutes until Catholic scored the equalizer with nine minutes left in the opening half.
Then, with less than nine minutes remaining in regulation, the Cardinals' Kiera Lyons scored what proved to be the game winner. Unfortunately for SU, the team was unable to get another shot off following Lyons' goal.
The Crusaders (8-7-2, 1-5-0) took four of their five shots in the first half and Edelman led SU with two shots. Catholic (13-2-0, 6-0-0) tallied 22 shots and had eight corner kicks to SU's one.
Susquehanna goalie Jordyn Slocum kept her team in the game with nine saves, seven of which came in the second half.
The Crusaders conclude their season on Oct. 31 with a 3:30 p.m. game at Landmark Conference opponent Goucher.
