Box Score SELINSGROVE, Pa. – A three-goal second half propelled the Susquehanna women's soccer team to a 3-1 win over visiting Delaware Valley on Wednesday night.
The Crusaders (6-4-2) went into halftime down 1-0 before exploding for three goals in an 18-minute span to on to the 3-1 victory.
Three different players accounted for the three goals with Alyssa Bolger netting one of those goals while also adding an assist for a three-point night.
"We stayed with the plan," head coach Nick Hoover said about overcoming the 1-0 deficit. "We had produced excellent chances in the first half so my message at halftime was 'don't change anything.' The ladies never diverted from the plan and it worked out."
SU put 11 of its 25 shots on goal while the defense held Delaware Valley to just four shots all night. Goalie Jordyn Slocum came up with saves on three of those shots.
Chloe Eisenhuth and Geena Ragozine scored Susquehanna's first two goals of the game while Grayclynn Juckes had four shots and one assist.
The first half passed without a goal for the first 40 minutes before Delaware Valley's Nikki Dunlap scored with 4:55 remaining. Susquehanna took two shots in the final minutes of the half but none found the back of net.
Susquehanna found itself still trailing 1-0 until Eisenhuth redirected a cross from Bolger into the back of the net to score the equalizer in the 62nd minute. Just 17 minutes later, Ragozine scored what was the game-winning goal off an assist from Juckes for the 2-1 SU lead.
Less than 60 seconds later, Bolger added an insurance goal for a 3-1 game. Delaware Valley (3-8-1) had just one shot over the remainder of the game.
Susquehanna hits the road to face Elizabethtown on Oct. 10 at 1 p.m.
