GETTYSBURG, Pa. – The Susquehanna women's swimming team lost to both Messiah (177-84) and Gettysburg (169-92) Saturday.
Katie Willis came in second in the 200 yard freestyle only two seconds behind first place Messiah with her time of 1:59.44. In the 50 yard free and the 100 yard free she finished not even a full second behind the Messiah swimmers with times of 25.10 and 54.44 respectively for second place in both.
All three of Willis' times were PR's and in the top 10 all-time in the Crusader's record book. Her 50 yard free time (25.10) puts her tied with fourth while her 100 yard free (54.44) has her solidly in fourth place. The time of 1:59.44 in the 100 yard freestyle puts her in sixth place overall.
Megan Duck was fourth in the 100 breaststroke (1:11.52) and the 200 breaststroke (2:38.93).
In the 200 yard butterfly, Kelsey Lessard finished second behind Gettysburg with a time of 2:40.47.
In the 100 yard butterfly, Maggie Palaski came in third, ahead of Gettysburg but behind Messiah with her PR of 1:00.99. This time puts her in SU's top 10 all-time.
In the medleys, SU placed third in 200 medley with a time of1:53.37 behind swims from Devon Niness, Joann Butkus, Maggie Palaski and Jess Jozefiak. The 200 free relay team of Willis, Niness, Jozefiak and Joann Butkus took home second (1:41.44).
Susquehanna returns to action on Saturday, Nov. 21 at the USMMA Invitational. The meet starts at 11:00 a.m.
