SELINSGROVE, Pa. – The Susquehanna women's tennis team opened its spring season with a 9-0 home conference loss to Catholic on Sunday afternoon.

The Crusaders (6-1, 0-1) suffered their first loss of the 2014-15 athletic year as they went 6-0 in the fall.

SU lost 5-8, 4-8, 3-8 in doubles.

At first singles, senior Shelby O'Riley (Ware, Mass./Quabbin Regional) was the only Crusader not to fall in straight sets as she lost 6-1, 4-6, 5-8. At third singles, Alyssa Fleischman (Madison, Conn./Daniel Hand) dropped 3-6, 4-6 sets and Kelly Furlong (Cazenovia, N.Y./Cazenovia) battled at the six spot, falling 3-6, 5-7.

Susquehanna is back in action on April 1 with a 3:30 match at Scranton.
