Box Score SELINSGROVE, Pa. – The Susquehanna women's lacrosse team jumped out to a 9-0 lead against Elizabethtown College and never looked back en route to an 18-8 conference victory.
The Crusaders (4-7, 2-2) scored those nine goals over a mere 15-minute span and held a 12-3 halftime lead before going on to the 10-goal final margin of victory.
Eight different players netted at least one goal for SU with Brynn Reid (West Grove, Pa./Avon Grove) and Kelcie Ehler (Chatham, N.J./Chatham) scoring four each. Reid also added three assists for a game-high seven-point performance. Becky McHugh (Royersford, Pa./Archbishop John Carroll) had a hat trick to go along with two assists while Annie McElaney (Natick, Mass./Natick) had two goals and two assists.
Defensively, Susquehanna forced 19 Blue Jays turnovers and starting goalie Carolyn Figliola (Weston, Conn./Weston) had three saves in her 30 minutes of work. Alyssa Rothman (Trooper, Pa./Methacton) tallied two saves in the second half.
Ehler scored three of her four goals before the 16:40 mark of the half with the third goal making it 8-0. Elizabethtown's Carly Thompson made it a seven-goal game (10-3) with a goal with 4:09 left in the half but Meredith Crane (Maplewood, N.J./Columbia) and Sarah Talabiska (Lewisburg, Pa./Lewisburg Area) tallied the final two goals of the period for a 12-3 halftime score.
The Crusaders came out of halftime and scored the first three goals to take a 15-3 advantage. Midway through the half, the Blue Jays (4-8, 1-4) scored three unanswered goals to pull within nine (16-7) with 9:52 to play.
It was too little too late, though, and SU scored two of the final three goals of the game to pick up the 18-8 win.
