Box Score 2 SELINSGROVE, Pa. – The Susquehanna Crusaders' softball team takes two games off of the visiting Red Devils of Dickinson College (13-2 after 5 and 2-1) today.
Susquehanna got off to a slow start today in game one as Dickinson struck first by scoring their two runs in the first two innings. However, in the bottom of the second SU scored three runs on four hits. Bridget Rafter (Highlands, N.J. / Henry Hudson Regional) singled to center field to get on base and then advanced to second on a passed ball to get into scoring position. Heather Pearson (Alexandria, Va. / Bishop Ireton) then singled to score Rafter. Emilie Boman (Tinton Falls, N.J. / Mater Dei Prep) singled and then Kelly Miller (Kendall Park, N.J. / South Brunswick) walked to load the bases. Brianna Murphy (Hazlet, N.J. / Mater Dei Prep) then singled to score both Boman and Pearson. The Crusaders ended the inning up 3-2.
The bottom of third inning had SU scoring two runs on two hits: a double by Lauren Creamer (Langhorne, Pa. / Neshaminy) and a single by Bridget Rafter. The bottom of the fourth inning put the game away for Susquehanna who scored eight runs on six hits. A walk by Alyssa Cantalini (Kitchener, Ontario / St. David Catholic Secondary) followed by two singles by Lauren Creamer and Leigh Ann Greenwald (Piscataway, N.J. / Immaculata) loaded the bases. Bridget Rafter then reached on an error and Cantalini scored. Heather Pearson singled to left field to score two more runs and Emilie Boman walked to load the bases once again. Kelly Miller singled to center field to score another run, while Brianna Murphy doubled to score two and McKayla Brady (Green Brook, N.J. / Watchung Hills Regional) singled to score two as well. SU held Dickinson to three batters in the top of the fifth to win 13-2.
Jamie Fesinstine (Long Valley, N.J. / West Morris Central) earns the win for Susquehanna increasing her record to 11-2. Brianna Murphy, Lauren Creamer, and Bridget Rafter led the team in hits with two apiece while Murphy led in RBI's as well, with four.
The second game went scoreless for both teams until the bottom of the fourth when Susquehanna scored two runs on four hits. Lauren Creamer started the inning off with a single up the middle and pinch runner, Cierra Omlor (Salem, N.J. / Salem), advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt by Brynn Musser (Selinsgrove, Pa. / Selinsgrove Area). Leigh Ann Greenwald then singled to put runners on first and second. Heather Pearson and Brooke Kholer (Middlebury Center, Pa. / Wellsboro) both singled to right field to score Omlor and Greenwald respectively.
The Red Devils would fight back in the top of the seventh inning to score one run but the Crusaders would hold them there and take the game 2-1.
Heather Pearson and Brooke Kholer led the Crusaders in RBI's with one apiece while Morgan Lewis (Newton, Pa. . Council Rock North) earned the win with five strikeouts and only one walk to increase her record to 13-3.
The Crusaders return to action on Thursday, April 23 at home versus Gettysburg College.
