SELINSGROVE, Pa. – The Susquehanna Crusaders' softball team won both of its games (17-2, 10-2) in five innings against the visiting Bullets of Gettysburg College.

SU struck early in game one against Gettysburg, scoring five runs on only two hits in the first inning. After a single by Stephanie Chlebove (Northampton, Pa. / Northampton Area), two walks, and two passed balls, the Crusaders were up 1-0 with two on when Bridget Rafter (Highlands, N.J. / Henry Hudson Regional) doubled to left center to score two more runs.

On a wild pitch, Heather Pearson (Alexandria, Va. / Bishop Ireton), who reached on a fielder's choice, and Leigh Ann Greenwald (Piscataway, N.J. / Immaculata), who walked, scored to bring Susquehanna up 5-0.

The second inning was even bigger for the Crusaders who scored seven runs on three hits. With the bases loaded, Rafter walked to score Brianna Murphy (Hazlet, N.J. / Mater Dei Prep), who reached base on a single, while Greenwald followed with a single to score Stephanie Chlebove. With the bases still loaded, Pearson walked to score Cierra Omlor (Salem, N.J. / Salem). 

Emilie Boman (Tinton Falls, N.J. / Mater Dei Prep) scored Rafter when she grounded out to the third baseman. Kelly Miller (Kendall Park, N.J. / South Brunswick) then doubled off the wall in right center to score Pearson and Greenwald and Miller would later score on a wild pitch to put SU up 12-0.

In the third inning, SU scored one on a bases loaded walk to go up 13-0. Gettysburg put a run on the board in the top of the fourth but Susquehanna answered with four more runs on three hits from Chlebove, McKayla Brady (Green Brook, N.J. / Watchung Hills Regional), and Boman to increase the lead to 17-1. The Bullets scored one more run in the top of the fifth but it was not enough and SU won 17-2 after five.

Greenwald went 2-for-2 while Chlebove went 2-for-3. With eight strikeouts and only one walk, Morgan Lewis (Newton, Pa. / Council Rock North) earned the win to increase her record to 14-3.

The second game of the day was closer with SU up 3-2 until the bottom of the fifth inning. Walks to Chlebove, Alyssa Cantalini (Kitchener, Ontario / St. Davis Catholic Secondary) and Anna Heggenstaller (Liverpool, Pa. / Greenwood) loaded the bases and Rafter doubled to score Chlebove and Cantalini to go up 5-2.

Pearson then walked to load the bases for Brady who then earned four RBI's with one swing by hitting a grand-slam over the centerfield wall to bring SU up 9-2. Brynn Musser (Selinsgrove, Pa. / Selinsgrove Area) walked and then advanced to second and third on a sac bunt by Miller followed by a single from Brianna Murphy. Chlebove ended the game with a double to left-center to score Musser.

Jamie Fesinstine (Long Valley, N.J. / West Morris Central) earned the win for the Crusaders to increase her record to 12-2 while Brady led the team in RBI's with four and Chlebove and Rafter led in hits with two apiece.

Susquehanna returns to action on Saturday, April 25 when the team hosts Elizabethtown on Senior Day.
