Box Score 2 SELINSGROVE, Pa. – The SU softball team started day two of the Landmark Championships by winning their first game against the Catholic University of America (10-1 in six innings) but then lost the second game to Moravian College 1-0.
In game one, Susquehanna struck first and scored in the bottom of the first inning when Amanda Neveroski (Toms River, N.J. / Toms River North) singled to score Brianna Murphy (Hazlet, N.J. / Mater Dei Prep) from second base.
In the top of the third, Catholic tied the game at 1-1 but the Crusaders went on to score four more runs in the bottom of the fifth to lead 5-1. Neveroski singled to score Murphy who reached on a single and advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt from Stephanie Chlebove (Northampton, Pa. / Northampton Area). With runners on first and second, McKayla Brady (Green Brook, N.J. / Watchung Hills Regional) singled to center field and earned an RBI when Neveroski scored. Bridget Rafter (Highlands, N.J. / Henry Hudson Regional) followed with a single up the middle to score the last two runs of the inning.
In the sixth inning, SU pitcher, Morgan Lewis (Newtown, Pa. / Council Rock North), held the Cardinals to only four batters while the Crusaders would score five more runs to win the game 10-1. Three singles loaded the bases for Alyssa Cantalini (Kitchener, Ontario / St. David catholic Secondary) who singled to score one while Brady earned four RBI's and ended the game on an over the wall grand-slam.
With six strikeouts and only one walk, Lewis earned the win. Neveroski went 3-for-3 with two RBI's and Brady went 2-for-3 with five RBI's to lead the Crusaders.
Game two was scoreless for both the Crusaders and the Greyhounds of Moravian College until Moravian scored the only run of the game in the top of the seventh.
Morgan Lewis struck out three and walked three in the loss while Leigh Ann Greenwald (Piscataway, N.J. / Immaculata) tallied Susquehanna's only hit of the game with a double.
Moravian won their next two games, against Elizabethtown College, to win the Landmark Conference Title.
