Box Score WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Susquehanna women's lacrosse team ended their season as SU fell 22-9 at No. 11 Catholic in Saturday's championship game.
The Crusaders trailed 11-5 to the nationally ranked Cardinals and could not rally to comeback for the win.
Brynn Reid (West Grove, Pa. / Avon Grove) led SU with five goals. Annie McElaney (Natick, Mass. / Natick), Emma Jones (Wolfeboro, N.H. / Brewster Academy), Ashley Rose Lynn (Millburn, N.J. / Millburn), and Kelcie Ehler (Chatham, N.J. / Chatham) each contributed with one goal apiece. Jones, and Becky McHugh (Royersford, Pa. / Archbishop John Carroll) tallied the team's only two assists with one each. Goalie Carolyn Figliola (Weston, Conn. / Weston) totaled 13 saves in the loss.
Reid and Jones gave Susquehanna an early 3-1 lead in the first five minutes of the game. However, Catholic proceeded to score the next five goals to go up 6-3. Reid and McElaney scored two more but the Cardinals answered with five of their own to end the half up 11-5.
In the second half, Reid scored back to back goals and Ehler scored the third of four goals of the half with 8:35 left to go.
The Crusaders trailed 22-8 with 17 seconds left in the game when Lynn scored the last goal of the game en route to a final score of 22-9.
