WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – The Susquehanna men's tennis team defeated Lycoming 8-1 in its first head to head match of the season.

SU led 3-0 after the completion of doubles. At number one doubles, Ben Ornstein (Chappaqua, N.Y. / Horace Greeley) and Ryan Seibert (Harrisburg, Pa. / Central Dauphin), defeated their opponents in a tough set, 9-8. Number two doubles consisting of Nick Meale (Williamsport, Pa. / Williamsport Area) and Alex Cocolas (High Bridge, N.J. / Voorhees) dispatched their opponents 8-0 while number three doubles Alex Dove (Collegeville, Pa. / Perkiomen Valley) and Ashton Collins (Biddeford, Maine / Biddeford) won 8-4.

The Crusaders proceeded to win five of the six singles matches. Ornstein at number one won 7-5, 6-3; Seibert at number two won 6-0, 6-1; Meale at number three won 6-2, 6-0; Cocolas played number four singles and won 6-1, 6-3; Dove defeated his opponent 6-3, 6-2 at number five singles. Finally, Collins battled hard and won the first game 7-5 but lost the next two to lose the set. Austin Gow (Royersford, Pa. / Perkiomen Valley) played at number seven singles and won 8-4.

Susquehanna returns to action on Saturday, Sept. 26 when the team hosts Alvernia. The match starts at 1:00 P.M.
