SELINSGROVE, Pa. – The women's tennis team fell to Alvernia University 8-1 on Saturday.

Kelly Furlong (Cazenovia, N.Y. / Cazenovia) and Eliza Griffin (Fort Washington, Pa. / Woodlynde School) won at number two doubles, 9-7, to earn SU's only win. At number one doubles, Allison Lobell (Harrisburg, Pa. / Lower Dauphin) and Abby Ransom (Renovo, Pa. / Bucktail Area) lost 8-2 while number three doubles, consisting of Julia Spear (Milton, Pa. / Milton) and Cassey Fox (Pittsgrove, N.J. / A.P. Schalick), was defeated 8-5.

Numbers one and five singles, consisting of Furlong and Spear respectively, took their opponents to three games. Furlong won the first set 6-1 and then lost 6-7, 9-11. Spear won her first set 7-6 and then lost 2-6, 9-11.

The Crusaders travel to Lebanon Valley College on Sunday, Sept. 27 to take on the Dutchmen.
