Overtime Loss for SU Field Hockey

SELINSGROVE, Pa. - Despite forcing overtime, the Susquehanna field hockey team could not get past Wilkes, falling 2-1 on the first day of the Connie Harnum Classic.

Trailing 1-0 with 12 minutes to play in regulation, Alison Caulfield (Rose Valley, Pa./Strath Haven) scored the game-tying goal with just 1:21 to play, ultimately sending the game to overtime. Unfortunately, Wilkes' Taylor Ryan scored an unassisted goal to give the Colonels the win.

SU (1-1) will now face Albright in the consolation game on Sunday, Sept. 6 at 11 a.m. Kean defeated Albright 6-1 in Saturday's second game.

The Crusaders edges Wilkes with 15 penalty corners to Wilkes' nine. Crusader Goalie Alyssa Rothman (Trooper, Pa./Methacton) racked up 11 saves, five in each half and one in overtime.

Emily Novakovich (Saratoga, Calif./Lynbrook) and Tessa Woodring (Mifflinburg, Pa./Mifflinburg Area) each had three shots to lead the Crusaders.
