Box Score HUNTINGDON, Pa. – The Susquehanna women's basketball team earned its second-straight win with a 64-54 victory at Juniata Wednesday night.
The Crusaders (10-4, 3-3) were led by Angie Schedler with a game-high 18 points. Courtney Adams followed with 11 points to go along with a game-high nine rebounds. Sofie Schedler contributed nine points, six assists and six rebounds.
Juniata (6-9, 1-5) scored first but Susquehanna answered and tied it at two at the 8:12 mark. Each team traded baskets to tie the game four more times in the first quarter. Danielle Palazzi tied it at 12 on a layup with 1:34 left in the quarter and Nicole Gault gave the Crusaders their first lead of the night (14-12) but a Kelly Leamer three-pointer with nine seconds on the clock gave the Eagles a 15-14 lead heading into the second quarter.
Angie Schedler started the ball rolling for SU as she made a layup just nine seconds into the second quarter to give Susquehanna the lead (16-15). After the Eagles tied it at 17 with 7:52 remaining in the half, the Crusaders out-scored Juniata 17-16 to go into halftime with a one point lead (34-33).
Juniata took the lead early in the third quarter but a layup from Lexi Biggs-Garcia gave the Crusaders the one point lead, 39-38, with 6:43 remaining in the quarter. The SU lead increased to four (44-40) when the clock ran out.
Susquehanna held onto the lead throughout the remainder of the game going up 14 (61-47) on a Palazzi layup with 1:48 remaining in the fourth quarter. The Eagles cut the lead to 10 at the 1:22 mark and that is the closet they got as the Crusaders held on to win 64-54.
The Crusaders played without their leading rebounder and second-leading scorer, Nikki Komara.
SU returns to the court on Saturday, Jan. 16 when they travel to Drew for a 4 pm game.
