Field Hockey Extends Win Streak with Conference Victory

THE MAIN STORY: The Susquehanna field hockey team won its fourth-straight game with a 2-1 win at Landmark Conference opponent Scranton on Saturday afternoon.

WHAT DOES THAT MEAN
: It means that SU is now 9-2 overall with a 2-1 Landmark Conference record. It also means that the River Hawks are tied for second in the conference with two other teams (Catholic, Goucher).

SECOND-HALF RALLY: Susquehanna went into halftime trailing 1-0 after a Scranton goal with just 1:01 left in the first half. Fourteen minutes into the second half, Hunter Pitman scored an unassisted, game-tying goal just inside the circle on the far side.

Almost exactly 20 minutes later, Taylor Franco scored what stood as the game winner off a goalie deflection in front of the cage.

It was Pitman's 12th goal of the season and Franco's 11th goal of the fall. Pitman and Franco are first and second, respectively, on the team in scoring thus fa'r this season.

TEAM STATS: SU held a narrow, 9-7 edge in shots but had 15 penalty corners to the Royals' five.

The River Hawks put six of those nine shots on goal while Scranton managed just three. Starting goalie Emily DiGaetano finished with two saves, all in the second half.

Pitman led SU with three shots while Mini Kifolo added two.

DID YOU KNOW: This is the second four-game win streak of the season for the River Hawks.
