Box Score SELINSGROVE, Pa. – A 14-point win over visiting Goucher College kept the Susquehanna women's basketball team in the playoff hunt. SU won 65-51 on Wednesday night for its third-straight win and sixth victory in the past eight contests.
The Crusaders (16-7, 9-6) trailed just once in the game and were led by Angie Schedler's game-high 29 points, 15 of which came from three-point range. Sofie Schedler finished with 10 points and Nicole Gault added seven points and five rebounds in 22 minutes of work off the bench.
Goucher (8-16, 3-12) failed to make a three-point shot (0-for-5) and shot only 34.3 percent for the game. The Gophers also had 15 turnovers while SU had just eight.
Susquehanna trailed 6-4 at the 7:41 mark of the first quarter before an Angie Schedler three 30 seconds later put SU ahead (9-6) for good.
With 2:11 to play in the quarter, another Angie Schedler trey gave the Crusaders their first double-digit lead of the game (18-8) and they ended the quarter ahead 23-12.
Goucher began the second quarter on a 12-1 run to pull within two, 24-22, with 3:40 left in the half and SU led by just four (28-24) as the half came to a close.
Susquehanna was still up by just two, 32-30, three minutes into the third quarter. The team could not build more than a five-point cushion for the remainder of the period and went into the final quarter leading 46-41.
The Crusaders were finally able to put the game out of reach in the final 10 minutes of the contest. They opened the half by out-scoring Goucher 12-0 in less than six minutes of play to take a 58-41 advantage.
Goucher scored just eight points over the final 4:10 of the game and SU held on for the 65-51 win.
SU hits the road to face Elizabethtown on Saturday, Feb. 20 for a 4 p.m. game in the final contest of the regular season.
