WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – The Susquehanna women's lacrosse team could not hold on to an 8-7 halftime lead and fell 17-9 at Lycoming on Thursday afternoon.

The Crusaders scored the final four goals of the opening to rally and take an 8-7 lead into halftime. Unfortunately, the Warriors netted the first eight goals of the second half to pull away for the eventual 17-9 win.

Kelcie Ehler and Brooke Burnett each scored three goals with Ehler adding an assist. Burnett also had four caused turnovers and one draw control win. Annie McElaney finished with two goals and two assists for a four-point afternoon.

Goalie Carolyn Figliola played the first 22 minutes and gave up seven goals on nine shots. Alyssa Rothman played the final 37:19 of the game and finished with four saves on 14 shots.

The Warriors (3-0) held a 22-9 edge in draw controls and out-shot SU (0-2) by a 30-20 mark.

Ehler and Burnett scored back-to-back goals over a two-minute span to give their team a 2-0 lead just four minutes into the game. Lycoming responded with three unanswered goals to gain a 3-2 edge.

The Warriors strung together another 3-0 stretch of goals to lead 7-4 with 10:25 remaining in the half. McElaney and Ehler combined for two goals apiece over the final 7:19 of the half to give the Crusaders the 8-7 advantage after 30 minutes of play.

Unfortunately Lycoming came out of halftime and scored eight consecutive goals to pull ahead 15-8 with just 9:13 remaining in the game. Burnett snapped that scoring stretch with a goal at the 7:07 mark but Lycoming scored the final two goals of the game for the 17-9 win.

Susquehanna opens its home season on Saturday, March 12 with a 1 p.m. game against King's.
