Women's Lacrosse Drops Road Game to No. 13 Messiah

MECHANICSBURG, Pa. – The Susquehanna women's lacrosse team fell 16-3 to 13th-ranked Messiah College Wednesday afternoon.

Becky McHugh scored all three of SU's goals while Shannon Kinney tallied four ground balls, two caused turnovers and two draw controls. Goalie Carolyn Figliola (1-2) made four saves on 14 faced shots.

Messiah (4-2) struck first less than 20 seconds into the first half to take a 1-0 lead that grew to 10-0 over the following 18 minutes with the final goal of that streak coming at the 11:18 mark.

McHugh scored the only first-half goal for the Crusaders (1-3) with 9:24 on the clock. Susquehanna proceeded to take eight of its 12 first-half shots over the last nine minutes of the half but none found the back of the net and the Falcons took the 10-1 lead into the half.

In the second half, Messiah scored five goals to take a 15-1 lead before McHugh scored two more at the 14:09 and 12:23 marks to complete her hat trick. The second goal came from a Jenna Clark assist to make the score 15-3.

With 34 seconds remaining in the game, Messiah scored the last goal to win 16-3.

The Crusaders return to action on Saturday, March 19 when the team travels to Widener for a 1 p.m. game.
