Baseball Falls Short on the Road

BALTIMORE, Md. – A three-run sixth or seventh inning was not enough for the Susquehanna baseball team as SU fell 7-4 at Johns Hopkins Wednesday.

Bryan Palsi led SU on offense going 3-5 with three RBI's while Matt Cassinelli went 2-4 with two runs scored. Pitcher Ryan Beckwith (0-1) got the start and pitched five innings and struck out two.

Johns Hopkins (12-7-1) took a 4-0 lead going into the fourth inning when a Palsi single scored Matt Cassinelli who reached on a single to make it 4-1.

A two-run homer for the Blue Jays in the fifth inning increased their led to five (6-1) and one run in the sixth gave them the 7-1 lead. The Crusaders (13-8) answered with three runs in the seventh inning when Dylan Jenkins walked with the bases loaded and Palsi singled to score Matt Cassinelli and Zach Leone to pull SU within three (7-4).

However, it was not enough as neither team scored in the remainder of game to give Johns Hopkins the 7-4 win.

Susquehanna travels to Landmark Conference opponent USMMA on Saturday and Sunday, April 2-3 for a three-game series. The first game starts at 1:00 p.m.
