Men's Lacrosse Drops Road Game at Messiah

Box Score

GRANTHAM, Pa. – Down just two goals at halftime, the Susquehanna men's lacrosse team could not muster a comeback and fell 9-6 at Messiah on Wednesday afternoon.

The Crusaders (7-4) scored five of their six goals over the final 30 minutes of the game but the Falcons' early cushion held up.

Alec Tzaneteas scored two goals and added two assists. Andrew Porzio and Nick Reardon both added one goal and one assist. Goalie Dylan Abplanalp racked up 10 saves in his 60 minutes of work.

Messiah got off to a 2-0 lead thanks to two first-quarter goals. Greg Rabiecki broke the streak with a goal one minute into the second quarter for a 2-1 game before Messiah's Blake Knobloch scored a man-up goal at the six-minute mark to give his team a 3-1 edge, which remained the score at halftime.

Tzaneteas opened the third quarter with a goal at the 10-minute mark to make it a one-goal game (3-2) but Messiah countered with three unanswered goals to make it 6-2 with two minutes remaining. Kade MacGregor scored with just one second to play in the period, though, for a 6-3 game heading into the final quarter.

Both teams netted three goals in that final quarter to preserve Messiah's three-goal margin of victory.

SU is back in action April 9 with a 1 p.m. game at Scranton.
