Softball Drops Two to No. 22 Messiah

SELINSGROVE, Pa. – The Susquehanna softball team dropped two games to visiting No. 22 Messiah College Saturday afternoon. SU fell 8-1 in the opener before dropping an 8-0, five-inning decision in the second game.

In the first game of the day, Brooke Kohler led all batters going 3-3 at the plate with one RBI. Pitcher Jamie Fesinstine pitched a complete game and struck out one in seven innings of work.

Messiah (19-2) struck early, scoring seven of its eight runs over the first two innings.

Susquehanna (13-7) scored its only run in the second when Kohler singled to center field to score Jackie Gore. The Falcons scored their last run in the top of the fourth inning and the Crusaders were not able to plate anymore and lost 8-1.

The Crusaders totaled two hits during the five-inning game second game. Amanda Neveroski went 1-3 at the plate while Lauren Creamer finished 1-2.  Pitcher Alexa Gonzalez (4-3) pitched the complete game and struck out five.

Messiah scored three runs in both the first and fourth innings to go along with two in the third to win 8-0.

The Crusaders return to action on Tuesday, April 5 when the team travels to Lycoming for a doubleheader starting at 3:00 p.m.
