Women's Lacrosse Edged Late by Lebanon Valley

Box Score

ANNVILLE, Pa. – Senior Annie McElaney's eight-point effort was not enough to guide the Susquehanna women's lacrosse team to a victory as SU fell 14-11 at Lebanon Valley on Saturday afternoon.

McElaney had five goals and three assists to account for nearly half of the Crusaders' scoring. Becky McHugh added five assists while Caroline Rabiecki added a hat trick. Goalie Alyssa Rothman racked up 15 saves in her 60 minutes of work.

SU (3-5) was out-shot 32-24 and Lebanon Valley (4-4) forced 22 Susquehanna turnovers.

The Dutchmen jumped out to a 2-0 lead after less than two minutes of play before SU scored three unanswered goals to pull ahead 3-2 six minutes into the game.

Lebanon Valley strung together three straight goals of its own to take a 5-3 edge. The teams proceeded to trade goals before the Crusaders struck twice in the final 97 seconds of the half to tie the game at seven.

The Dutchmen scored the first three goals of the second half to go up 10-7 before SU countered with three goals with the final two from McElaney to again tie the game (10-10).

Unfortunately for Susquehanna, Lebanon Valley scored four of the final five goals of the game to take the 14-11 win over the Crusaders.

SU returns home to host Moravian on April 6 at 4 p.m.
