River Hawks Field Hockey Defeats King's

The Quick Story: The Susquehanna field hockey team defeated King's College (Pa.) 3-2 at home on Saturday afternoon.

The Records: The River Hawks improve to 2-1 on the season while the Monarchs drop to 2-2.

The First Half: King's took an early 1-0 nothing lead when Nicole Sott scored at the 7:15 mark on an assist by Kelsey Gabriele. This score stood for the reminder of the first half.

The Turning Point: Susquehanna tied the game on a Hunter Pitman goal at the 48:35 mark and then took the lead (2-1) when Julia Hasircoglu scored just under four minutes later. Emily Novakovich scored an insurance goal at the 58:56 mark before the Monarchs came within one (3-2) on a Brianna DiMaggio goal late in the game.

Inside the Box Score: The River Hawks out-shot the Monarchs 18-8 with 10 shots on goal. Taylor Franco led SU with five shots while Novakovich and Lauren Cram tallied three each. All three of Cram's shots were on goal. Goalie Morgan Ludlam faced five shots on goal and made three saves in her 70:00 minutes of work.

What's Next? Susquehanna remains at home on Tuesday September, 13 when the team hosts McDaniel at 4:30 p.m.
