Late Goal Propels Women's Soccer to Victory

Box Score

THE STORYLINE: The Susquehanna women's soccer team picked up yet another win, taking down King's 1-0 with a late-game goal. This marked SU's second shutout of the season.

RECORDS: Susquehanna is now 4-1 while King's falls to 2-2.

TURNING POINT
: Emily Sullivan picked the perfect time to score her first goal of the season. The sophomore netted what proved to be the game winner with just 1:22 left in regulation when she beat the goalie inside the right post for the score.

DOMINANT DEFENSE: Susquehanna held King's without a single shot for the first 50 minutes of the game while SU's offense fired off seven shots in the first half alone. The Monarchs' shot in the 51st minute proved to be their lone shot of the afternoon.

STREAK: Susquehanna has not lost to King's since 2013; SU defeated the Monarchs last year and tied in 2014.

THE BEST SINCE: The River Hawks' 4-1 start to the season is the best since the 2007-08 squad opened that season with a 5-1 record.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE: Alyssa Bolger led SU with five shots while Chloe Eisenhuth added three, as did Sullivan.

QUIET DAY FOR SLOCUM: Starting goalie Jordyn Slocum did not have to make a single save on Wednesday as King's failed to put its only shot on goal. Nevertheless, Slocum picked up her fourth win of the fall.

UP NEXT: Susquehanna returns home to host Shenandoah on Sept. 17 at 4 p.m.
