Strong Second Half Leads Field Hockey to Win

QUICK HIT: Three second-half goals propelled the Susquehanna field hockey team to a 3-0 win over visiting DeSales University on Wednesday night.

TEAM RECORDS: The River Hawks improve to 6-2 on the season while DeSales falls to 3-7. SU has now won five of its last six games.

GAME WINNER: Mini Kifolo scored the game winner with an unassisted goal just over 10 minutes into the second half in what was her first collegiate goal.

FRANCO'S ON FIRE: Taylor Franco scored her seventh and eighth goals of the season with scores in the 60th and 62nd minutes. She leads the team with eight goals in eight games this season.

TEAM STATS: SU tripled DeSales in shots, 21-7, and took 15 penalty corners to the Bulldogs' five. The River Hawks finished with 14 shots on goal.
 
Emily Novakovich put four of her game-high five shots on goal and finished with one assist. Hunter Pitman added four shots and eight players in total finished with at least one shot.

Starting goalie Morgan Ludlam made one save in her 35 minutes of action. Freshman Emily DiGaetano played the entire second half and finished with two saves.

UP NEXT: Susquehanna remains home to host Landmark Conference opponent Goucher on Oct. 1 at 1 p.m.
