Men's Soccer Wins Home Opener Against Elmira

The Match-Up: The Susquehanna men's soccer team defeated the Soaring Eagles 3-0 in its home opener Sunday evening.

The Records: The River Hawks are now 1-1 on the season while the Eagles drop to 0-2.

The Turning Point: Freshman Alex Graul scored the first goal of the game at the 74:08 on a cross from Ryan Cronin. Five minutes later, Cronin scored an insurance goal and freshman Max Maidenberg put the game out of reach for Elmira with a goal at the 82:30 mark.

Inside the Box Score: The River Hawks out-shot the Eagles 15-12 with seven shots on goal while Elmira totaled four. Graul led SU with three shots while Zachary Goodwin and Cronin tallied two each. Goalie Ian Lawlor earned the shutout with four saves in his 90 minutes of work.

What's Next? The River Hawks remain at home to host Lycoming in the Battle of the Boot on Wednesday, Sept. 7 at 7:00 p.m.
