Women's Basketball Runs Away from Rangers at Drew

The Susquehanna women's basketball team limited Drew to just 17 points in the first half and ran away with a 56-39 win Saturday afternoon in a Landmark Conference game on the road in Madison, New Jersey.

Janine Conway scored five of her team-leading 11 points in the first two quarters as Susquehanna (12-5 overall, 3-3 Landmark) built a double-digit lead at 27-17 by the end of the first half.

In the third quarter, Drew (7-9, 3-3) rebounded to score 14 points but the balanced offensive attack of the River Hawks rattled off a 23-point quarter to extend their lead to 19 points at 50-31.

Susquehanna managed just six points over the final 10 minutes with Conway netting four, but the River Hawks defense was strong, holding the Rangers to just eight points in the quarter for the victory.

Conway was one of two players to score in double digits for Susquehanna as Courtney Adams came off the bench to also score 11. Lexi Biggs-Garcia had eight points and seven rebounds while Nicole Gault had a team-best nine rebounds.

Ryan Jackson led Drew with 10 points.

The River Hawks return home for a Wednesday night game against Catholic. Game time is 7 p.m.
