Box Score Emily DiGaetano made nine saves for the Susquehanna University Field Hockey team but the River Hawks were outshot 14-3 and suffered a 2-0 loss to Juniata College Wednesday night in a Landmark Conference game at Knox Stadium in Huntingdon.
After a scoreless first half where DiGaetano made three saves for Susquehanna (6-7 overall, 1-3 Landmark), the Eagles (8-4-3-1) opened the scoring five minutes into the second period with a penalty stroke goal.
Midway through the second half, Juniata added an insurance goal just seconds after a penalty corner as the Eagles were able to sustain offensive pressure.
The River Hawks had a chance to score late in the game with five consecutive penalty corners but the Juniata defense was able to keep the ball out of the cage.
The Eagles held a 14-3 edge in shots for the game but the penalty corner numbers were much closer with Juniata holding a slim 9-8 edge.
Susquehanna continues Landmark Conference play Saturday with a 1 p.m. game at Drew University and will play a final non-conference game Monday hosting Randolph-Macon on Sassafras Field.
