Late Goals Push Women's Soccer Past Drew

Box Score

Alyssa Bolger and Grayclynn Juckes each scored goals in the final five minutes of the game to lead the Susquehanna University Women's Soccer team to a 2-0 victory over Drew University Saturday afternoon in a Landmark Conference game on Sassafras Field in Selinsgrove.

Bolger cracked the scoreless tie with a sliding shot as she chipped the ball over the goalkeeper's head and into the back of the net from 10 yards out to give Susquehanna (12-2-1 overall, 4-1-0 Landmark) the 1-0 lead.

Drew (6-8-0, 1-4-0) battled back for a couple scoring changes over the next two minutes but the Susquehanna defense held strong.

Juckes led a break after receiving a pass near midfield with less than 1:30 left to play and carried the ball toward the corner of the field before changing direction to free herself and fired a shot over the head of the Drew keeper with 58 seconds left to play for the final score.

Susquehanna held a 13-7 edge in shots but the Rangers had a 7-0 advantage in corner kicks. It is the second consecutive game that the River Hawks did not manage a corner kick.

Susquehanna returns to action Wednesday at Gettysburg and will continue Landmark play next Saturday at Elizabethtown.
