Field Hockey Shuts Out Winless Drew

Box Score

Hunter Pitman, Cayla Spatz and Julia Hasircoglu each scored goals to lead the Susquehanna University Field Hockey team to a 3-0 victory over Drew University in a Landmark Conference contest Saturday afternoon at Ranger Stadium in Madison, N.J.

Pitman opened the scoring for Susquehanna (7-7 overall, 2-3 Landmark) with a goal at the 15 minute mark of the opening period. The score remained 1-0 for the rest of the first half despite the River Hawks holding a decisive 10-4 advantage in shots.

In the second half it was more of the same as Susquehanna limited Drew (0-12, 0-5) to just one shot while firing 18 shots and forcing eight penalty corners.

Hasircoglu scored early in the half with an unassisted goal and Spatz added another insurance goal nine minutes later as she converted a rebound off her own shot for the final margin of victory.

Emily DiGaetano played the entire game in the Susquehanna cage but was not credited with an official save as the River Hawks held an 18-0 edge in shots on goal.

Susquehanna returns home for the final non-conference game of the season with a 7 p.m. Monday game against Randolph-Macon on Sassafras Field.
