Box Score Alyssa Bolger scored the only goal for the Susquehanna University Women's Soccer team but Gettysburg College scored in overtime to record a 2-1 victory in a non-conference matchup Wednesday afternoon on Clark Field in Gettysburg.
Susquehanna (12-3-1 overall), ranked sixth in the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Region, took the lead 15 minutes into the game as Bolger took a pass from Mairead Ruane after a corner kick from Emily Lefkowitz. Bolger headed the ball into the net from the right post.
With less than five minutes to play in the half, Gettysburg (8-4-2) evened the score at 1-1.
In the second half, Susquehanna's defense stayed strong despite a 9-1 Gettysburg shot advantage. Senior Jennifer Thorshiem recorded seven saves to keep the game even for another 45 minutes.
Three minutes into overtime, Gettysburg was able to find its way past the River Hawk defense and finalize the game 2-1.
Julia Tolin played in the first half of play making two saves in goal but stopped numerous scoring attempts that she faced.
The River Hawks will be back in action at 1 p.m. Saturday when they travel to Elizabethtown for the final road game of the regular season.
