Box Score Heather Casey scored the only goal for The Susquehanna University Field Hockey team Saturday afternoon in a 3-1 loss to Elizabethtown College in a Landmark Conference on Sassafras Field in Selinsgrove.
The start of the game was delayed two hours due to a scheduling conflict with referees.
Elizabethtown (8-7 overall, 4-2 Landmark) opened the scoring late in the first half with a goal in the last 1:30 of the period for a 1-0 lead. After a second Blue Jays goal at the 56:24 mark, Susquehanna (8-8, 2-4) cut the lead in half as Casey scored 44 seconds later.
The Blue Jays scored the final goal of the game off a penalty corner to seal the victory in the 68th minute of play.
Emily DiGaetano was credited with six saves but stopped numerous scoring opportunities. Abbey Kemble, Ciara Middleton and Tess Omlor were all credited with defensive saves in the game.
Prior to the game, seniors Jordan Burkepile, Julia Hasircoglu, Kemble, Courtney Purnell and Cayla Spatz were honored as part of the senior day activities.
The River Hawks will play their final regular season game at 1 p.m. Saturday, October 28 at Moravian College.
