Men's Soccer Scores Overtime Winner over Misericordia

Box Score

Patrick Bresney scored the game winning 1-0 goal in 44 seconds into overtime for the Susquehanna University Men's Soccer team in a non-conference battle against Misericordia University on Wednesday night in Dallas, Pa.

Susquehanna (5-9-2) had control over majority of the game over Misericordia (2-14-1) but was able to claim the game 44 seconds into the first overtime. Bresney took a shot from about 30 yards out that rocketed past the Cougar goalie's reach.

The River Hawks outshot the Cougars 17 to 9 with 11 shots coming in the second half but was unable to find the back of the net until the overtime winner. Susquehanna had three good scoring chances near the end of regulation with a free kick from just outside the box and a pair of corner kicks in the last two minutes of the half.

Casey Hoover ended his second collegiate start with three saves, stopped numerous scoring attempts and earned his second shutout.

Susquehanna will wrap up the regular season at 4 p.m. Saturday against Moravaian in a must win Landmark Conference match on Senior Day. The River Hawks can move into the Landmark Conference Tournament with a win over the Greyhounds.
