Box Score The Susquehanna University Women's Soccer team surrendered a pair of second half goals and dropped a 3-0 decision to Scranton University Saturday afternoon in a Landmark Conference matchup on Fitzpatrick Field in Scranton.
Entering Saturday's game, both Scranton (7-2-2 overall, 3-0-0 Landmark) and Susquehanna (10-2-1, 2-1-0) were undefeated early in Landmark Conference play. The three-goal loss by the River Hawks was the first in two years as Scranton posted a 3-0 win back in 2015 as well.
Scranton scored early in the first off a crossing pass into the front of the Susquehanna goal. The teams played even for the first 45 minutes with Scranton holding a slim 7-5 shot advantage.
In the second half, the Royals added to their lead early in the period with a goal off a corner kick to take a 2-0 lead 14:16 into the second half of play. A final goal with 16 minutes left to play sealed the win for Scranton.
Julia Tolin recorded nine saves in the game before Jennifer Thorsheim replaced her in the 80th minute. Thorsheim made one save in final 10 minutes of action.
The River Hawks will be back in action at 7 p.m. Wednesday at home against Juniata College for another Landmark Conference match.
