Field Hockey Falls at Home to Scranton

The Susquehanna University Field Hockey team was shut out against Scranton University Saturday afternoon in a Landmark Conference game on Sassafras Field in Selinsgrove. The Royals scored five goals in the first half and scored a 7-0 win.

Susquehanna (6-6 overall, 1-2 Landmark) trailed 1-0 through the majority of the first half but Scranton (12-0, 3-0) scored three times in a span of 2:19 and added a fourth less than three minutes later to take a 5-0 lead into he halftime break.

The River Hawks had a few scoring chances in the second half where they recorded three shots and four penalty corners but the Royals added two more goals in the second half for the final margin of victory.

The loss is the worst defeat for the River Hawks in nearly five years. Susquehanna dropped a 7-0 decision to York (Pa.) on Oct. 24, 2012.

The next game for the River Hawks will be 7 p.m. Wednesday for another Landmark Conference match at Juniata College.
