Box Score The Susquehanna University Women's Basketball team made just one 3-point basket in the first half and finished the game 6-for-27 from beyond the arc leading to a 79-66 loss for the River Hawks against Marywood University Saturday afternoon in Scranton.
It was the final game of the first semester for Susquehanna (5-3) who will return to action December 29 against at Wittenberg at the Charles B. Zimmerman Memorial Tournament in Ohio.
Against Marywood (2-6), the River Hawks scored the first basket of the game with a Courtney Adams layup but the Pacers answered with a 13-1 run to take a 10-point lead through the first four minutes of the opening quarter.
Susquehanna battled back over the final six minutes of the period to close to within 23-19 at the first quarter break.
The Pacers regained the double-digit lead midway through the second quarter and raced to a 44-32 edge at halftime.
In the third quarter the River Hawks made a comeback and trimmed the lead to four with a Bailey Trell jumper with 3:47 left in the quarter but Marywood ended the period with a 9-4 run to take a 62-53 lead into the final period.
Marywood used a 17-13 scoring edge in the final 10 minutes to seal the win.
Erin McQuillen led the River Hawks with 16 points off the bench and Trell added 13 points and a team-leading five assists. Adams finished with eight points and Megan McFadden added seven points and a team-best 10 rebounds. Nevin Hoenninger added seven points.
