Box Score Freshman Erin McQuillen scored her 12th point of the game on a driving layup with 4:40 left in the game to give the Susquehanna University Women's Basketball team a 60-56 lead but Cabrini scored the final eight points of the game with a pair of free throws and three layups to take a 64-60 win in the non-conference game Saturday afternoon in Houts Gymnasium in Selinsgrove.
Susquehanna (5-2) played a close first half and trailed by just three points at the break and used a five-point edge in the third quarter to take a 50-48 lead into the final period.
Cabrini (5-2) trailed by as many as six points in the fourth quarter after Courtney Adams made a layup with 5:39 left to give the River Hawks a 58-52-edge.
The Cavaliers called time out and came out of the break to connect on four free throws to trim the lead to two points before McQuillen hit her layup at the 4:40 mark for the four-point Susquehanna lead.
Susquehanna shot 38 percent (25-for-66) from the field but struggled from beyond the 3-point line hitting just 1-of-15 in the game. Cabrini was 4-for-17 from long range and was limited to 21-for-63 (33%) from the field.
Adams led the River Hawks with 19 points and also grabbed a team-leading 10 rebounds for her first double-double of the season. She added five blocks and three steals. Bailey Trell and Maddie Murray each scored eight points and Trell led the team with four assists.
The River Hawks return to action next weekend with a Saturday game at Marywood at 2 p.m. to finish the first semester.
