Miller Provides Bright Spot in Cold Hitting Day

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

Catcher Kelly Miller was 3-for-4 on the day for the Susquehanna University Softball team but she was the only player with multiple hits as the River Hawks dropped a pair of 7-1 decisions to Keene State and University of Dallas Thursday night in Leesburg, Florida.

Susquehanna (6-4) struggled at the plate with three hits against Keene State and four against Dallas.

Miller was 2-for-2 with a run scored and a walk against Dallas. She scored the only River Hawk run of the game in the second inning. Miller led off the inning with a single to left field and moved to second on a sacrifice bunt before coming home on a Kasey Bost single.

Dallas answered with three runs in the sixth and four more in the seventh for the come-from-behind win.

Against Keene St., the Owls scored a run in the first and another in the third to take an early lead. The lone Susquehanna run came in the fourth. Emilie Boman led off the inning with a single and moved to second on a Lauren Creamer ground out. She then took third as Miller singled to right field and then scored on a sacrifice fly by Leigh Ann Greenwald.

Keene added three runs in the fifth and two more in the sixth for the final score.

The River Hawks will play Endicott and Fitchburg State Friday in the final two games of the trip to Florida.
