Box Score Ashley Rose Lynn scored four goals as the Susquehanna University Women's Lacrosse team cut a seven goal deficit and trailed by just two goals four different times in the second half but Elizabethtown rallied to pull out a 15-12 victory Saturday afternoon in the Landmark Conference opener for both teams on Sassafras Field in Selinsgrove.
Elizabethtown (5-1 Overall, 1-0 Landmark) struck early building a 7-0 lead in the first 18 minutes of the game. Susquehanna (4-4, 0-1) battled back scoring the final two goals of the first half with Lynn scoring first and Caroline Rabiecki netting her 50th career goal with a man-down goal late in the half.
The River Hawks continued to chip away at the lead with the first two goals of the second half Brooke Klair scoring 2:13 into the period and Lynn adding her second goal of the game a minute later.
After the Blue Jays stopped the run, Mel Barracato and Klair helped put together a 3-1 run with Barracato scoring twice and cutting the lead down to 9-7 with 21:03 left to play.
The teams traded goals over the next 10 minutes with Shannon Kinney scoring twice and Lynn adding her third as Elizabethtown held the slim two-goal edge at 12-10 with 10:48 to play.
The Blue Jays scored the next three consecutive goals to build a five-goal edge before the River Hawks scored twice in the last four minutes for the final margin of victory.
Lynn led the River Hawks with her four points on four goals while Rabiecki and Barracato contributed three points each with two goals and an assist. Kinney and Klair posted two goals each. Barracato and Klair had four draw controls each and Kinney led the team with five caused turnovers.
Libby Dex and Emily Digaetano each played 30 minutes in goal and combined for 12 saves.
Susquehanna will play a non-conference game at King's at 4 p.m. Wednesday.
