Brooke Klair scored two goals to spark a six-goal outburst for the Susquehanna University Women's Lacrosse team as the River Hawks overcame an early deficit to defeat King's College 9-5 Wednesday afternoon on a cold windy day in Wilkes-Barre.

King's (3-5) scored four of the first six goals of the game to jump out to an early 4-2 lead.

Klair stopped a three-goal run with her first goal of the game with 11:17 left in the first half to trim the lead to 4-3 and spark a 6-0 run for Susquehanna (5-4). Ashley Rose Lynn scored the first of her three goals on the day a minute later before Liv Cohn, Lynn and Klair each scored goals in the final five minutes of the half to give the River Hawks a 7-4 halftime lead.

Shannon Kinney scored on a free position shot midway through the second half to increase the lead to 8-4.

King's scored a man-down goal with two minutes to play but Lynn added her third goal of the game with 1:05 to play to cap the scoring.

Lynn and Klair had three points each as Lynn netted three goals and Klair had two goals and an assist for the River Hawks. Caroline Rabeicki also had three points with a goal early in the game and two assists on goals in the six-goal run.

Kinney had a great all-around game with eight ground balls, three draw controls and six caused turnovers and the River Hawks defense allowed just one goal over the final 47 minutes and 37 seconds of the game.

Libby Dex made seven saves in the Susquehanna goal to pick up her fourth win of the year.

The River Hawks travel to Moravian for a Landmark Conference game Saturday and will host Lycoming next Wednesday on Sassafras Field in Selinsgrove.
