Zach Leone had a solo home run and Cory Fallon knocked in a pair of runs for the Susquehanna University Baseball team but it was not enough as Keystone College took an early lead and held on for a 6-3 victory Thursday afternoon in the first game of the season on Harold Bollinger Field in Selinsgrove.

Keystone (9-6) opened strong with three runs in the top of the first inning to take an early lead.

Susquehanna (9-9) answered in the bottom half of the inning scoring a pair of runs to trim the lead to one run. Cameron Ott led off the inning with a walk and two outs later, Dylan Jenkins walked to put runners on first and second base. Cole Luzins was hit by pitch to load the bases and Fallon followed with a two-run single to left field.

The Giants added two more runs in the third inning with the help of three walks and a pair of base hits.

The score remained 4-2 until the fifth inning when Leone belted a one out blast over the centerfield fence to trim the lead back to 5-3.

Keystone added an insurance run with a solo home run in the sixth.

The game was called after eight innings due to darkness with the Giants awarded the 6-3 victory.

Leone and Justin Miller were each 2-for-3 in the game and Fallon was 1-for-4 with two runs batted in.

Bobby Klatt started and allowed five runs on six hits while Tyson Thrush, Ryan Beckwith, Nathan Madden and A.J. Pinto all threw at least an inning of relief.

The River Hawks return to the road with a three-game Landmark Conference series at Catholic Saturday and Sunday before returning home Tuesday and Wednesday to host Penn State-Brandywine and King's in back-to-back non-conference games.
