After struggling at the plate for most of the past week, the Susquehanna University Softball team rapped out 19 hits and scored 16 runs in a doubleheader sweep of Juniata College Saturday afternoon in Landmark Conference games on West End Field in Huntingdon, Pennsylvania.

Susquehanna (19-9 Overall, 6-2 Landmark) had seven hits in a 6-2 win in the opener and added 12 hits in the 10-0 victory in six innings in the night cap to complete the sweep.

In the opener, the River Hawks scored single runs in the second and third innings to take an early lead. Juniata (13-17, 3-5) rallied for runs in the fourth and fifth innings to tie the score at 2-2.

Susquehanna answered with a pair of runs in the sixth and two more in the seventh to close out the victory.

In the sixth, Jackie Gore hit an infield single with two outs and Lauren Creamer followed with a two-run home run to straight away centerfield.

In the seventh inning, Kelly Miller and Kasey Bost started the inning with consecutive walks and after a pitching change, Emily Lear singled to load the bases. Brooke Kohler reached on a fielder's choice as Miller scored and Lear was forced out at second base. Kohler stole second to put two runners in scoring position and Heather Pearson lifted a sacrifice fly to center to score the second run of the inning.

Creamer was 3-for-3 with two runs scored and three runs batted in while Jamie Fesinstine threw a complete game with two runs on five hits a walk and two strike outs as she recorded her sixth win of the season.

In the second game, Susquehanna took an early lead again with two runs in each of the first two innings for the early 4-0 advantage. Creamer had a two-run single with two outs in the first inning while Kohler and Pearson connected on RBI singles in the second to build the early lead.

The River Hawks added single runs in the third and fourth innings for a 6-0 lead and broke the game open in the sixth with a four-run inning.

In the sixth, Gore and Boman had singles and Kohler walked and with bases loaded, Creamer hammered her second home run of the day with a grand slam to centerfield and a 10-0 lead for Susquehanna.

Starter, Alexa Gonzalez held the Eagles to three hits and struck out three batters to improve to 11-4 on the year. Boman, Gore, Creamer and Leigh Ann Greenwald each had a pair of hits while Creamer finished with six runs batted in.

The River Hawks are at Misericordia Thursday and return to Landmark Conference play with a doubleheader at Elizabethtown Saturday.
