Alec Tzaneteas scored early in the second half for the Susquehanna University Men's Lacrosse team as the River Hawks battled back from an early deficit to close to within a goal at 4-3 but Catholic University put together a five-goal run that started in the third quarter and continued into the fourth as the Cardinals posted a 9-4 win Saturday in a Landmark Conference game on Sassafras Field in Selinsgrove.

Catholic (11-1 Overall, 3-0 Landmark), listed in the also receiving votes section of the latest USILA/Nike National Poll, scored the first three goals of the game before Jack Donnelly scored to break the ice for Susquehanna (9-4, 1-2) with 6:31 left in the first half.

The teams traded goals over the final few minutes of the second quarter and the Cardinals took a 4-2 lead into halftime.

In the second half, Tzaneteas took a pass from Jake Smolokoff and scored to trim the lead to 4-3 3:26 into the third quarter.

Catholic answered with three goals in the third quarter and added two more to start the fourth to jump out to a 9-3 lead.

Tzaneteas finished off the scoring with a quick pass to Andrew Porzio who scored with 12 seconds left in the contest.

Tzaneteas led the team with his two points on a goal and an assist. Pierce Mead grabbed seven ground balls and Dan Murphy contributed four caused turnovers for the River Hawks. Dylan Abplanalp made 14 saves with seven in each half.

The River Hawks are at Goucher next Saturday and return home for Senior Day April 22 with a home game against Scranton.
