Box Score Three different players scored goals and Julia Tolin recorded a shutout in goal at the Susquehanna University Women's Soccer team scored a 3-0 victory Friday afternoon over Lycoming to open the 2017 season In Williamsport.
With the victory, Susquehanna (1-0) retains possession of the River Derby Trophy which goes to the winner of the rivalry game. The River Hawks have won four consecutive matchups by a combined score of 11-1 and have also won six of the last seven meetings.
Alyssa Bolger scored the first goal for Susquehanna 13 minutes into the contest as she cleaned up a loose ball after a misplay by the diving Lycoming (0-1) goalie after a crossing pass from Grayclynn Juckes.
Early in the second half, the River Hawks scored a pair of goals in the span of two minutes as Emily Sullivan scored off a corner kick and two minutes later, Kate Cantrell beat the goalie in a 1-on-1 situation for the 3-0 lead.
Tolin finished with three saves for the shutout victory as Susquehanna out shot Lycoming 24-6 in the contest.
The River Hawks return to action Sunday with another road game at Albright and a 12 pm start.
